Frequently asked questions

Will my edits match the original font?

Dropkit first tries to reuse the exact font embedded in your PDF. If a character isn't available in that font, it switches to a metric-compatible font (e.g. Arimo for Arial, Carlito for Calibri, Tinos for Times New Roman) so the text keeps the same size and spacing.

Is the old text really removed?

Yes. Dropkit removes the original characters from the page itself rather than painting a white box over them, so the old text won't show up when copying or searching.

Can I edit scanned PDFs?

Scanned pages are images, not text, so there is nothing to edit directly. OCR support for scanned documents is on our roadmap.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Dropkit processes everything locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device, which also makes it faster — there's nothing to upload or download.
